Hector Bellerin Pens Emotional Farewell to Three Arsenal Stalwarts

Published on: 15 May 2016

Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin has paid tribute to Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Flamini, and Tomas Rosicky after it was confirmed they would be leaving the Emirates this summer.

The former Barcelona full-back took to Twitter to express his gratitude towards the players, especially his compatriot Arteta, whom Bellerin considered "like a father" to him.

What a way to finish!! Good luck in the future @m8Arteta! Been like a father to me throughout my time @Arsenal! pic.twitter.com/Zpze0snRRg

The 34-year-old made his final appearance for the Gunners on Sunday in their 4-0 thrashing of Aston Villa as a substitute and made an immediate impact when his shot cannoned off the bar and onto the back of 'keeper Mark Bunn.

It brings an end to the former Everton playmaker's five-year stay at the Emirates, a period that has unfortunately been blighted by injuries, especially in the past few years.

However, the club captain was still able to secure four trophies under Arsene Wenger - the FA Cup in 2014 and 2015 while taking home a Community Shield medal in the same years.

Tomas Rosicky and Mathieu Flamini have also been confirmed to be leaving the club after several years of service to the north London club.

Best of luck to Tommy and @mathieuflamini, also! These 3 guys have been amazing for the club. Going to miss them being around the place.

Rosicky has made 246 appearances since his 2006 move to Highbury but as was the case with Arteta, the former Czech Republic international was blighted with injuries and was only able to show the Arsenal faithful glimpses of his talent.

Arsene Wenger described the pair as "two exceptional players and influences in the dressing room".

As for Arteta's future endeavours, it is presumed the Spaniard will continue in football by becoming a coach but it has not been confirmed if he will hang up his boots this summer.
