"?Harry Kane wants to make his childhood idol Teddy Sheringham and the rest of the nation proud during Euro 2016.
Kane, who grew up idolising the likes of Sheringham, has spoken of his joy at being tipped to win the Golden Boot in France, after securing the Premier League version of the award this season with 25 goals.
"It's amazing to hear things like that,"? said Kane, talking to "?Mirror Football .
"Teddy was an idol of mine growing up through the way he played and the goals he scored. To hear him complimenting me like that only gives me more confidence. Going into the Euros, I need to believe that I can score goals.
"If I do, hopefully the rewards will be there."?
Sheringham played at three major international tournaments for England, and amassed 51 caps, scoring 11 goals.
Kane is one of five strikers selected by manager Roy Hodgson for the Euros, alongside Wayne Rooney, Jamie Vardy, Daniel Sturridge and Marcus Rashford, and is expected to start in England's first game against Russia on June 11th.
Kane is also with four of his Spurs teammates, all of whom are playing in their first senior national tournament, and whilst he is excited for what the tournament could bring, he's remaining grounded.
"I don't try to put any pressure on myself. I've worked too hard to get this far. This is where I want to be and this is where I want to stay."?
Kane will face stiff competition for the Golden Boot in France, with Germany's Thomas Muller, France's Antoine Griezmann and Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo among those expected to perform well during the tournament.
