Arsenal's summer signing Granit Xhaka has revealed that he was "nervous" when he first signed for the club ahead of meeting and training with who he describes as the "world class" trio of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Santi Cazorla.
Arsenal signed the Swiss star from Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach in May, before he starred in Switzerland's Euro 2016 performances, for a fee £33.8m.
The midfielder settled into his new club quickly, becoming one of the most impressive players on the pitch in Arsenal's first victory of the season last weekend against Watford.
Despite playing alongside Cazorla in the heart of the deep lying midfield - feeding balls across the team to the likes of Ozil and Sanchez - the 23-year-old has admitted he was nervous when he first joined the Gunners about linking up with the trio.
Speaking with "?Appenzeller Zeitung, he said: "I have to admit that in the first few days there was an undeniable nervousness.
"You can see the players are world class just by the way they pass the ball. Ozil, Sanchez and Cazorla for example, are huge personalities."?
The Switzerland international then added that while he was aware he had cost the club than most signings, as he became Arsenal's fourth most expensive signing ever, but he has nothing but admiration for the trio with great hope of learning from them to improve his game.
He added: "Even though the club has spent more money on me, there's still a great deal I can learn from them, in every respect. Things like their work ethic and ambition are impressive.
"You can't afford to rest on your laurels at all or you'll instantly be on the bench. Every training session, every sprint, every exercise must be done to the best your ability."?
