Gonzalo Higuain Claims Compatriot & Juventus Teammate Can Reach Heights Set by Barcelona Superstar

"?Gonzalo Higuain has claimed that Juventus teammate Paulo Dybala can go on to replicate the consistently great form displayed by Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi.

The Juventus striker is of the opinion that his two compatriots are not dissimilar in their respective playing styles, and said he believes that Dybala could follow in the footsteps of the Argentina captain if he continues to develop his all-round game.

Dybala has become a firm fan favourite at the Serie A club ever since he joined I Bianconeri in the summer of 2015, and Higuain - who himself only joined Juventus in August - said the 23-year-old could achieve great things in football if he keeps his head down and learns from what he is taught.

He told Premium Sport (via "?FourFourTwo): "Dybala and Messi are a lot like each other. Messi is the best and he shows it every day.

"Paulo is still young, he's 23 years old and depends on what's coming in the future, he has all the characteristics to become one of the best players.

"It has to have a great mental strength. When reaching so fast at high levels it is not easy to stay there for many years. There will be many ups and downs and you will always have to keep a balance and not listen to criticism and praise."

Dybala joined Juventus from fellow Italian club Palermo for a rumoured fee of around £27m 18 months ago, and has since gone on to register 27 goals in 61 appearances during that time.

The forward's 2016/17 season has, however, been stop-start thus far. A muscle strain picked up in the 1-0 defeat to AC Milan back in October ruled him out of action for almost two months, while it was his saved penalty that proved decisive in the Italian Super Cup defeat to the same side on December 23.

Higuain and Dybala will next be in action for the reigning Serie A champions when the Italian leagues start up again, following the enforced winter break, in an away encounter with Bologna on January 8.
