German Club St. Pauli Unveil New Signing in Hilarious Fashion

St. Pauli just endeared themselves to every football fan in the world.


The 2. Bundesliga club announced new signing Marvin Ducksch to the world on Wednesday, but the former Dortmund striker "?wasn't the real focus of proceedings on social media.


Head Coach at the club Ewald Lienen was unavailable to take part in the photo shoot at the unveiling of the club's new front-man, so they slapped a mask on an impostor and had him pose for the picture instead.


The move to pull the wool over the eyes of the public was realised almost instantly, but the club went on to say it was a "one-off." Whether it was a one-off or not, football fans around the world reacted in lighthearted fashion.

"?"?This quirky stunt is the latest in a long line of similar strange antics in the clubs history. Known for their unconventional nature, St. Pauli have previous in wacky and unusual tendencies.


The players run out to Hells Bells by rock band AC/DC and have recently installed two beehives at their Millerntor stadium to produce their own honey.

Ducksch wasn't put off by the uniqueness of the stunt and said: "I'm looking forward to the assignment at St. Pauli and playing in front of really big crowds again.


"I've kept tabs on a lot of St. Pauli matches and the supporters always get behind the team."
