Genoa's 15-Year-Old Sensation Pietro Pellegri Breaks Record for Youngest Ever Serie A Player

Published on: 22 December 2016

"?Walking into school as a 15-year-old kid isn't much fun, especially at this time of year when exams and homework is getting in the way of your much needed Christmas break.

However, when you've just broken the Serie A record for the youngest player to ever make his senior professional debut in the league's history for Genoa, you're feeling pretty good about life in general.

Meet Pietro Pellegri - he was brought on to replace Tomas Rincon for the final three minutes of Genoa's 1-0 defeat at Torino this week, equalling the all-time Serie A record set by Roma's Amedeo Amadei, set in 1937.

He is a giant of a kid at 6ft 2in, and has the pace and power that any wide forward professional would kill for, and has been making rifts on the international youth circuit for Italy.

And he is the biggest talent right now in European football, and someone - former manager Gian Piero Gasperini - even had the nerve to suggest he is the 'next Lionel Messi'.

Pietro Pellegri (Italian striker, Genoa, 2001!) tonight is having his first match in Serie A, against Torino. 15 years old. ???

That phrase is thrown about a lot it seems right now with young players, but if this kid can prove that he can emulate the Argentine's ability and success, then Genoa will find it extremely hard to keep hold of him.

Pellegri has already been linked with some European heavyweights, including Manchester United, Manchester City and fellow Serie A side Juventus.
