French World Cup Heroes Dugarry and Petit Comment on Mamadou Sakho's Social Media Outburst

Published on: 26 September 2016

Former France Internationals Christophe Dugarry and Emmanuel Petit have both criticised the actions of Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho after his public outburst on social media, which they believe could be 'fatal' for his Liverpool career.

Sakho took to "?social media in the early hours of Saturday morning to complain about the treatment he is facing at the hands of manager Jürgen Klopp, who is yet to play him in any of their matches so far this season after being frozen out of the first team.

Dugarry believes that Sakho should have gone to Klopp with his troubles instead of venting on social media, stating on

" target="_blank">"?SFR Sport: "He doesn't need to talk to his fans. He needs to talk to his coach. What is he doing talking to his fans at three in the morning? With emojis and all that."

Dugarry tacle Sakho : "Qu'est-ce qu'il a besoin de parler à ses fans à 3h du matin ? On n'est pas au cirque !" #PLZ pic.twitter.com/N7APFFkN2J

He also added: "We don't give a s--. We're not at the circus. If you have a problem, go talk to your coach, find a solution, solve the problem. Why does he need to talk to his 'fans?' Ronaldo and Messi have fans, the others...you shouldn't take yourself for what you aren't."

Despite signing a new long-term contract last season and playing a key part under the German manager, Sakho has been pushed from the starting XI after being"? temporarily suspended in April, as well as clashing with the manager during Liverpool's preseason tour of America.

Former Chelsea and Arsenal star Petit added on the same show: "I don't get the impression Klopp is someone inflexible, that his door is closed," he said. "On the contrary, I get the impression he's very close to his players. He showed that last year with his management, with his coaching. It's a shame. I think it's another outburst from him [Sakho], and it could be fatal."

Goodbye @mamadousakho. You will become a class defender. Not at @LFC. You over cross the line with the main man. #LFC

As for the original reason(s) behind all the fuss, Sakho didn't mince his words on social media platform Snapchat, stating amongst other things:

"Now it's 3 weeks since I am fit to play games. I finish all my rehabilitation work. They don't want me to play also with second team lol! Why I don't know."?

"Still working hard like Scouse Soldier! Still not talking cos I want speak on pitch.. I will speak soon for the people who support me and don't understand the situation.''

Of course, since then, Twitter has been in a frenzy, with fans having their own say on the matter, some behind the managers, others the player:

Is Klopp unreasonable? No.Has he treated a player the way he's treated Sakho before? No.Sakho must have done something to 'deserve' this?#LFC

There is something very weird about this Sakho situation, he is our best CB in my opinion and there is something that Klopp's not telling us
