Frank De Boer Critical of Inter as Poor Start to the Season Continues With Europa League Defeat

Published on: 15 September 2016

"?Inter Milan manager Frank De Boer has blasted his players as they fell to a shock defeat in their Europa League opener with Hapoel Be'er Sheva on Thursday evening, to pile further misery on the San Siro outfit.

"?Goal quote the Inter boss' comments with Sky Sports Italia following the 2-0 defeat as he revealed that his players lost their way after conceding, in an alarmingly similar manner to the Nerazzurri's clash with Pescara on Sunday.

After a Mauro Icardi double inspired a dramatic late comeback at the weekend, De Boer was hoping his side would kick on after collecting their first win of the season and admitted that he was impressed with the first half of Thursday's game.

"As happened in Pescara, we lost our heads a little and granted them several opportunities.

"We started well and I was convinced we could score. I do not understand how anyone can lose their head after conceding a goal."

Despite the hosts dominating the play, their visitors opened the scoring shortly after the interval before cementing their lead with little over twenty minutes remaining in Milan.

"Before their goal, we had control, then they won a free-kick when (Jeison) Murillo was off the field, three of them were good at blocking our players and they scored.

"We must know that there has to be organisation and I do not understand why there was a change," blasted the 46-year-old.

De Boer will not have long to adjust the worrying mindset of his players, with Italian champions Juventus next to visit the San Siro on Sunday.
