Franco Vazquez Claims a Transfer Is 'Developing' When Questioned on Chelsea and Tottenham Links

Published on: 13 June 2016

Palermo play-maker Franco Vazquez has been quoted by "?Mediagol saying that "things are developing" in regards to a summer transfer, with both Tottenham and Chelsea interested.

Vazquez, 27, has been at the Serie A side since 2012, but it has been in the last two seasons when he has really begun to impress.

The attacking midfielder added to his ten goals and ten assists in the 2014/15 season with another another eight goals and seven assists this term, establishing himself as one the best attacking talents in the league.

However, with Palermo only narrowly avoiding relegation this season, the twice capped Italian international has said he will "100%" be leaving the Rosanero. Mediagol reports that Chelsea, Tottenham and West Bromwich Albion are all keen on Vazquez, whilst Gazzetta Dello Sport reported last week that AC Milan are also in the race for his signature.

When questioned on whether he would make a move to the Premier League this summer, Vazquez responded: "Do I know anything about Tottenham and Chelsea? Well, I know how things are developing, however, my agent is taking care of events and the truth is that at present I have not signed anything.

"100% I will not be a player of Palermo next year. Continue my career in Italy or in the Premier League? I would like both the first and the second option", he added.

From the midfielder's comments it would appear as though whether he ends up in Milan or London is entirely in the hands of his agent. However, with the likes of Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Oscar, both Tottenham and Chelsea already possess a wealth of talent in Vazquez's preferred attacking midfield role. Whether either side will be willing to pay his reported £20m price tag remains to be seen.

Although, if he can reproduce some of the nutmegs seen in the video below, it would no doubt be great to see Vazquez in the Premier League.
