Spurs and France international captain Hugo Lloris has admitted disappointment over the performance from talisman Paul Pogba but expects an upturn in form against Albania, ESPN FC reports.
The 23-year-old came into the tournament surrounded by a wave of expectancy due to his starring performances for Italian domestic double champions Juventus, as well as the hype around a potential big money move to Real Madrid.
The former United midfielder started the opening Group A match against Romania well with a few good touches and sublime through balls but the game seemed to pass him by as it wore on.
He was surprisingly hooked off after the hour mark by coach Didier Deschamps for Anthony Martial but it proved to be the correct decision with France going on to win the game courtesy of a stunning strike from Dimitri Payet.
Atletico Madrid superstar Antoine Griezmann was also replaced unceremoniously by Deschamps and there has been speculation in the French media that both Pogba and the 25-year-old could be dropped for the game against Albania.
Lloris admits it wasn't Pogba's best display but he remains confident that the Juventus superstar will improve as the tournament wears on.
"It's clear that we can expect a little more from him," the 29-year-old told reporters.
"But everyone was taking their marks -- it was only the first match.
"Just like the team, he's going to improve and I have no doubt he'll respond during the key moments."
Pogba played in a much more deeper role than he usually plays for Juventus and Deschamps faced criticism from some quarters but he believes it isn't "possible" for the Juve star to play in the same way.
"I don't know, it shouldn't be possible," Deschamps said.
"We don't have the same jersey [as Juventus] or the same system.
"That doesn't prevent Paul from having good matches with us and some that are less good.
"I'm not asking myself about using him like he's used over there. He's also capable of putting in good performances with France."
