"?Fabio Cannavaro has revealed that it would be a "dream" to manage Real Madrid or Italy at some point in his managerial career.
The former Los Blancos defender harbours ambitions of plying his trade at the highest level, and told Spanish news outlet "?Marca about which two jobs he would love to take on in the future.
Cannavaro recently guided Chinese Super League side Tianjin Quanjian to league title success just four months after leading the club to the League One title following his appointment.
The ex-Italy international now wants to continue learning his trade as the head coach of Quanjian, but admitted that he would seize the opportunity to take over at the Bernabeu, as well as stating his intent to manage Italy's national side if such an opportunity ever arose.
Cannavaro said: "It is my dream to coach Real Madrid. The Italian national team too. If one doesn't have these types of goals, it is better not to start coaching in the first place."
Current Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has led Real to the top of the La Liga league table with 21 points from their opening nine matches of the 2016/17 campaign, and guided the Spanish giants to Champions League glory in May after just four months in the job.
Cannavaro, who never had the opportunity to play alongside Zidane after joining the club once the France legend had left, praised the work that the 44-year-old had carried out since stepping up from managing Madrid's La Castilla youth side.
He continued: "Zidane has managed things very intelligently. After (Rafael) Benitez, he has kept it simple, not really inventing anything new, but always bringing the team joy."
Cannavaro added that he never wanted to take up coaching once he had hung up his boots but, after gaining a taste for the job with coaching roles at Al-Ahli, Guangzhou Evergrande and Al Nassr, said he was happy to be involved in the day-to-day running of a football club.
The 43-year-old said: "When I retired as a player, I first went to Dubai to work as a sporting director. But, in the end, football is football and I'm really enjoying myself now and am focused on improving my methodology."
