Ex-Ghana coach Kwes Appiah guided Sudanese side Al Khartoum to thrash Telecom from Djibouti 5-0 on Monday afternoon in the Cecafa Kagame Cup.

It is the biggest win of the competition so far.

Both teams showcased what many viewers on TV and the few spectators in the stadium have seen so far, free flowing football.

But Appiah’s side were the better side in the final third

Khartoum’s Ousamalia Baba was fouled by Houssein Butoyi after 21 minutes, Ugandan referee Mashood Ssali didn’t hesitate, he pointed to the spot.

The skipper Osman Bilal Salah Eldin needed a second chance to make it 1-0, Jeef Nzokira saved his initial effort but the latter had followed up and smashed the begging ball into the back of the net.

Ousamalia Baba was too much for Daher kader Mohamed, the Telecom central defender failed to tame him.

The former passed to the advancing Ali Alkhidr, his first time shot was held by Daher kader, Mashood pointed to the post for the second time in after 36 minutes and booked Daher Kader.

Osman Bilal made no mistake this time round, sending Jeef Nzokira the opposite direction, Khartoum led 2-0.

Ousamalia Baba stretched the scoreline beyond Telecom’s control after he headed home off a Badru Eldin Aldon corner, Wagdi Awad Abdalla and Murwan Salih Abdalla came off the bench to score one each for the 5-0 scoreline.

Khartoum were winning their first game of the championship while Telecom were losing their second after they lost to KMKM 1-0.

In same group, Gor Mahia are to play KMKM in the afternoon fixture, a win for either side will guarantee them a slot in the quarterfinal.
