Everton Winger Could Join Serie A Rival if Move to AC Milan Collapses

"?Everton winger Gerard Deulofeu could join Roma if his proposed move to AC Milan fails to materialise.

The Spaniard has not managed to impress new Everton boss Ronald Koeman so far this season, failing to register a goal or an assist in his 11 Premier League appearances this campaign. Deulofeu hasn't made an appearance for Everton since playing the whole 90 minutes in the 3-2 defeat at Watford in mid-December.

"?Calcio Mercato claim a transfer to Roma could be on the cards should the proposed move to AC Milan fall through. Everton are apparently unwilling to offer a simple loan deal as they are eager for Milan to include an option to buy at the end of season. The former Barcelona winger is also not interested in moving away on loan, and is looking to leave Goodison Park permanently.

Roma's move for Deulofeu will depend on whether they can secure the loan signing of PSG forward Jese Rodriguez. The 23-year-old left Real Madrid in the summer to find more first team opportunities but the form of striker Edison Cavani has restricted Jese to just nine Ligue 1 appearances, eight of those coming as a substitute.

Roma have offered €3m to sign the forward on loan until the end of the season with an option to buy for €23m. While an agreement is close, the two teams are yet to agree who will pay Jese's wages until the end of the season. Should the move fail, Roma will look to hijack a deal for Deulofeu, with Milan yet to reach an agreement with Everton over a potential transfer.

Deulofeu impressed during his initial loan spell with the Toffees, but has been overlooked in recent weeks by Ronald Koeman and could leave the club in January.
