"?Everton man James McCarthy is ready to kick on and make an impact at this summers European Championships with the Republic of Ireland, according to the "?Irish Independent.
McCarthy had been in danger of missing the tournament through injury but is feeling good and hoping to play an important role in France this month.
"I'm just delighted to be part of this squad. We've got a great bunch of lads here and hopefully on a personal level I can kick on again and give it my best shot," McCarthy said.
The Everton man was often criticised for his performances in an Irish shirt but believes towards the latter of the qualification campaign he really made an impact in the green jersey.
"There's always people doubting you and having a go at you, but a lot of people have said to me since Poland that I've kicked on," he said.
After overcoming his injury problems in time for the huge games this summer, McCarthy is now just looking forward to getting out to France and making an impact.
"The last couple of days it's( the injury) started to clear up and hopefully that's me back to getting fit and being involved with the team.
As an Ireland fan can't see many surprises in MON's squad, McCarthy has to go even if not fully fit. Quality player #bbcsportsday
""I'm buzzing to be honest. Each and every one of us within the squad knows how much it means to us, our family, friends, the fans, everyone involved. It's massive," the 25-year-old said.
The Republic of Ireland kick off their campaign against Sweden on the 13th of June before games against Belgium and Italy to try and get out of the group.
