"?Everton have signed Coventry youngster Bassala Sambou on a three-year deal, bringing the 18-year-old striker to Goodison Park after he made his first senior appearance last season.

Coventry will be due compensation for the German-born forward, with the fee being decided by tribunal if the two clubs cannot mutually agree on a fee, after Sambou rejected a contract offered to him by the League One side.

Sambou had already confirmed the move on his Instagram account before the club had put the news out through their official channels, writing: "New Chapter New beginnings, we thank God for making this move possible, all the hard work has paid off, it doesn't mean it stops here... #everydaygrind"

Everton Under-21s boss David Unsworth told the club's website: "I tracked his progress over the whole of last season and he'll be a quality player to take into the Under-21 group and he's a really exciting prospect for the future. We're pleased to be able to take him here as I believe he'll be a Premier League player in the future."

Coventry boss Tony Mowbray professed his disappointment at Sambou rejecting a contract with the Sky Blues back in April, saying: "They have taken up that option not to sign after we made a pretty good offer beyond what we might have offered normal scholars. He's a young boy with huge potential and yet they want to go down another route."
