Everton Boss Named Among Contenders to Potentially Replace Luis Enrique as Coach at Barcelona

"?Barcelona are considering making an offer to Everton manager Ronald Koeman to take the reigns at Camp Nou should current head coach Luis Enrique leave the club in the summer.

Barcelona-based newspaper Diario Sport, via "?ESPN, report that Koeman has been 'sounded out' by Barcelona as speculation continues to reign over Enrique's future at the club. His contract expires at the end of the current season, and as yet there is no word on whether he will extend or decide to leave the club.

Koeman only joined Everton in the summer after a spell at Southampton, but has done an impressive job in England to date. His current standing will only help him in the hunt for the Barcelona role, and he already has a link to the club given he spent six years there as a player under Johan Cruyff, and is also a former club assistant manager.

The Dutchman has not spoken recently on the possibility of taking the role, though it is thought he will jump at the chance to move to Catalonia if it's offered to him.

He's one of a long list of candidates however, with Athletic Bilbao boss Ernesto Valverde also linked recently, as well as Sevilla's Jorge Sampaoli.

Sampaoli, former coach of Chile, would be another popular choice, but he himself has spoken on the possibility of moving there this week - failing to rule the potential move out.

He told Marca: "It's speculation, rumours. Luis Enrique is a winner, he is respected and loved by the fans there. If he leaves, there will an enormous list of candidates. I see it very far away although the good moment of Sevilla means that people look at their coach. Nothing more.

"I don't know. You never know. I'm happy here, I fight for things, I have synergy with the [Sevilla] sporting director [Monchi]."
