"?An England fan suffered cardiac arrest after he was chased and beaten by a band of Russian hooligans in Marseille on Saturday.

The man, who was resuscitated and rushed to hospital by French paramedics, is said to be fighting for his life.

Chaos has erupted in Marseille and shocking scenes show brawls breaking out all around as fans from different European continents have docked in France for Euro 16.

Louise McMahon, another England fan who is from Redditch, Worcestershire, came to the man's rescue, and subsequently spoke to the "?Mirror.

"The bloke was from London and in his 30s. We saw it happen," said McMahon.

"He was on his own and then about five or six Russians just jumped him.

"They hit and kicked him and literally ripped his England shirt off his back. They nicked his iPhone and money too.

"The poor bloke was really shook up. We got him inside the bar where we were and he's going to be okay."

Police in the area have been quite busy, moving against the hooligans in full force, fully clad in riot gear, bearing tear gas and batons.

A gang of around 20 Russians, dressed in black, are believed to be hunting England fans down, administering severe blows to whoever they come across. They initially paraded around, looking for fans who would fight them, then began chasing them down when no one attempted to take them on.
