"?Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is ready to leave the German giants after failing to agree a new contract, according to the "?Mirror.
27-year-old Mkhitaryan, who scored 18 goals in all competitions last season, is unwilling to sign any contract which doesn't include a release clause, but Dortmund are no longer willing to include such stipulations in their contracts after former player Mario Gotze left for rivals Bayern Munich in 2013, after his release clause was triggered.
Dortmund have been able to renegotiate contracts of their more pivotal players, with both Marco Reus and Pierre Emerick Aubameyeng agreeing contracts "?without release clauses. Both have enjoyed stellar seasons at Dortmund, with Mkhitaryan helping form a deadly attacking trio.
He is now expected to leave Dortmund, and Arsenal look the favourites to land the Armenian attacker after he apparently communicated an interest in the North London club. Chelsea and Spurs have both previously been linked with a move for Mkhitaryan.
Arsene Wenger has already secured the services of Swiss international midfielder Granit Xhaka, whilst Arsenal and Leicester have been locked in negotiations for Foxes striker Jamie Vardy, who is currently away on international duty as England prepare for Euro 2016.
Mkhitaryan has just one year left on his contract, and could be available for a lower transfer fee, should Dortmund decide to sell another one of their star players. BVB have lost Mario Gotze, Robert Lewandowski and more recently Mats Hummels in the past three years, all to Bayern Munich.
Mkhitaryan helped Dortmund to second place in the Bundesliga, finishing 10 points behind champions Bayern Munich.
