Dortmund Star Henrikh Mkhitaryan Said to Favour Move to Arsenal Over London Rivals Chelsea

Published on: 04 June 2016

"?Both Arsenal and Chelsea are rumoured to be chasing Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Borussia Dortmund's electric number 10, but Arsenal are in the front seat.

According to "?The Sun, the Dortmund talisman could be on his way out of Dortmund this summer, with his preferred destination being the Emirates, which has put a real dent in Chelsea's hope to sign him. Tottenham have also been alerted to the player, after he turned down a contract renewal with the Bundesliga runners-up.

He is a player Dortmund will be desperate to keep a hold of, but he may end up being the second star to leave the Signal Iduna Park this window, after defender Mats Hummels made the switch to rivals Bayern Munich in May.

The Armenian scored 19 times and recorded 25 assists in all competitions in 2015/16, and was a key figure in Dortmund's race for the title. As such, these impressive displays have not escaped the attentions of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, unfortunately for Dortmund.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has now been directly involved in 22 goals in 28 Bundesliga games in 2015/16 (10G, 12A)

With just one year left on his deal at Dortmund, things do not look good for the German side. If Dortmund do refuse to sell this window, they run the risk of losing their £25m man for free next summer.

Wenger has clearly developed an admiration for the German Bundesliga, with Granit Xhaka already signed and now the interest in Mkhitaryan. Arsenal could become a real force in the Premier League next season.

Are we on the verge of an Arsene Wenger spending frenzy this summer? It may be a very interesting few months for Gunner's fans.
