Diego Simeone Fuels Atletico Madrid Exit Rumours After Inter Target Was Spotted in Milan

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has intensified rumours of a potential Inter Milan switch after being spotted in Italy on Saturday.

The 46-year-old Argentine's future at the Vicente Calderon had been under considerable doubt after his public admission of wanting to leave Atleti, with Inter Milan emerging as favourites for his signature.

The former Inter midfielder had made it known earlier this year that he wanted to manage in Italy, but backtracked on those comments to commit his immediate future to Los Rojiblancos.

Simeone, however, is understood to have cut short his contract with Atleti, which was due to expire at the end of the 2019/20 season, but will instead expire at the end of next season.

He has now been pictured spending time in Italy, and was pictured with his son, Giovanni, who plays for Serie A outfit Genoa, while also being spotted in a Milan restaurant.

The 46-year-old was quizzed by a journalist from Italian publication Telelombardio on his future and reportedly refused to deny the rumours by cryptically responding with: "Inter? You never know."?

Inter have only just recently sacked  Frank de Boer after the Dutchman's poor start to the Serie A season, which culminated with a 1-0 loss against Sampdoria that leaves the Serie A giants in ninth place.

Stefano Piolo has succeeded the former Ajax manager who is the ninth Inter boss since Jose Mourinho famously lifted the Champions League in 2010 to cap off a historic Italian treble.
