"?David Beckham has told the "?Daily Mirror that Jose Mourinho is the "perfect" managerial appointment for Manchester United.
The former Old Trafford star believes that the Portuguese boss' personality has been sorely missed in the Barclays Premier League.
And Beckham, who also played for Real Madrid, LA Galaxy and AC Milan during his career, says he hopes to be available to witness United's first game under the guidance of Mourinho.
When asked about Mourinho's appointment, Beckham said: "I think it is perfect.
"Bringing Jose in, I loved him as a manager, bringing him back to the Premier League needed to happen.
"It's not the same without him. I can't wait to see him. I only hope I can go to the first game."
Beckham had previously gone on record stating his affection for Mourinho after previous Red Devils head coach Louis van Gaal was sacked three weeks ago.
Back then Beckham said: "There's no disputing Jose is one of the best managers in football.
"I love Jose. I think he's an incredible manager, a great person, and he's passionate about the game.
"The English public love him. The fans love seeing him on the sideline, they love his character."
Mourinho has been without a club since he was sacked by Chelsea in December 2015 after the West Londoners suffered a wretched first six months of the 2015/16 campaign under his tutelage - languishing in 15th position in the league standings before his dismissal.
The 53-year-old finally agreed to take charge of the 20-time English league champions on 27th May and his first match in charge of United will see him lock horns with Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri in August's FA Community Shield.
United then kick off their 2016/17 Premier League campaign with an away trip to AFC Bournemouth on 13th August.
