"?Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater has expressed his disappointment at being left out of the final 23-man England squad for Euro 2016, despite his achievements at club level over the last 10 months, but has placed his full support behind the group that will travel to France.
Drinkwater, who was only called up for the first time in March, was cut from the provisional squad along with Andros Townsend and the injured Fabian Delph.
In the most recent fixtures, the 26-year-old featured as a second half substitute in the win over Turkey in Manchester and then played the full 90 minutes in the subsequent victory over Australia in Sunderland.
He had been tipped to make it in, but England boss Roy Hodgson ultimately chose to take both Daniel Sturridge and Marcus Rashford - despite only one of the two looking set to stay on. Everton's Ross Barkley also survived having looked under threat.
Taking to social media shortly afterwards, Drinkwater commented, "Disappointed not to make the final 23! Would have been a fantastic experience to go to the Euros as a player [sic]."
"But I'll be supporting the country like I always have! The season's been a huge positive for me. Going into next season as a Premier League champion! Good luck to the lads. Bring it home [sic]."
On the bright side, Drinkwater can now look forward to having several weeks of well deserved rest before pre-season with Leicester begins in early July as the club begins preparations for their title defence and the Champions League.
