"?Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has won the League Managers' Association Manager of the Year award after guiding the Foxes to their first ever top-flight title, ending the season 10 points clear of their nearest challengers.

The Italian arrived at the King Power Stadium over the summer after Nigel Pearson was sacked in acrimonious circumstances, and managed to guide his side to an incredible and unexpected title, which some bookies had priced at 5000-1 at the start of the season.

The Foxes held an open-top bus tour in Leicester on Monday, which was celebrated by an enormous 250,000 fans around the city, "?with Ranieri saying"Next season we will be in the Champions League "? we are still dreaming. Keep dreaming. Do not wake up!"?

LMA chief executive Richard Bevan said: "We are delighted to honour Claudio with the LMA Manager of the Year award in recognition of his Barclays Premier League title winning season with Leicester City, an inspiring story that has gripped the world.

"Leicester's achievement has been made possible by the tactical and technical knowledge of Claudio and his coaching staff. His passion for football, humility and charisma has underpinned an incredible ability to manage a team at the very highest level. He is a worthy champion and a true gentleman of the sport."

Brighton boss Chris Hughton was named Championship Manager of the Year, but the night was bittersweet for him - the award coming on the same day that his side were beaten at the playoff semi-final stage by Sheffield Wednesday.
