Claudio Ranieri and Sergio Aguero Win Premier League Awards for April

Published on: 11 May 2016

"?Claudio Ranieri and Sergio Aguero "?have won the Premier League's Manager of the Month and Player of the Month awards for April respectively, each leading their teams to a number of good results last month.

Ranieri's Leicester City side won three of their four matches in the month, keeping clean sheets against Southampton, Sunderland and Swansea in inch closer to the Premier League title which they wrapped up at the start of May when Spurs failed to beat Chelsea.

The only stain on the month for Leicester was their 2-2 draw against West Ham, although the manner of their dramatic late winner meant that the players and fans left the stadium celebrating as if they'd grabbed a win rather than just a point. Ranieri beat Sam Allardyce, Manuel Pellegrini and Jurgen Klopp to the April prize.

While City boss Pellegrini didn't pick up the gong for four wins in five games, striker Sergio Aguero grabbed the player of the month award for his own role in that impressive run - which included a 3-0 battering of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The Argentine hit the back of the net in every game City played through the month and, despite the distractions of no fewer than three Champions League games to contend with in midweek, ended April with seven goals from five Premier League games.

Leicester vice-chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha "?has recently said that Ranieri will be offered a new contract sooner rather than later, saying: "At the end of the season we will talk about that [extending Ranieri's contract] with him. We will sit down together and when we talk about something, it's long term, not just until September."
