Christian Benteke Demands Talks With Jurgen Klopp Over Liverpool Future

Published on: 19 May 2016

Liverpool striker Christian Benteke has revealed he wants to hold talks with manager Jurgen Klopp over his long term future at the club this summer - but insists he's not the only player uncertain of their position in the squad.

Benteke was signed from Aston Villa last summer in a £32.5m deal, but the Belgian has struggled to earn himself a regular first team place at Anfield. In his first season, he managed nine goals in 29 appears, but was not considered for a start for the club's Europa League final clash with Sevilla earlier this week. Benteke was used as a substitute seven minutes from time.

According to the "?Express, the 25-year-old "?is keen on discussing what the future holds for him at Anfield, amid reported interest from rival Premier League club West Ham United - but he thinks he's one of many players in the same position.

He said: "I want to see the manager's plan for next season. I am not the only one who is going to do that.

"I think a lot of players want to know what is going to happen. I signed for five years, I didn't sign for one year. But now I have to speak with the manager and see his plan.

"I think it wasn't my best season, but when I had my chance I scored important goals, I didn't score goals in, like, 4-0s and 5-0s.

"It's not that I am happy with that. I knew I could give more for the team but now the season is over I have to look forward and see what's going to happen next season."?

Liverpool were beaten 3-1 in the Europa League final in Basel and have now rounded off their club season, with Benteke now set to turn his sights to Euro 2016.
