Chelsea's £51m Bid for Radja Nainggolan Set to Be Turned Down by Roma as Attention Turns to Vidal

"?Chelsea look set to receive another blow in their pursuit for AS Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan this January, with the "?Daily Star claiming that the Italian club will reject Chelsea's improved £51m bid.

The 28-year-old midfielder "?recently revealed that although there was contact from Chelsea in the summer, he has now settled in Rome and has no intention of moving away.

"Was I close to moving to the Premier League? There was contact", he told Sky Italia. "But then I quickly decided to remain.

"He [Conte] already wanted me when he was the Juve manager, but I'd already said I would never leave Roma for Juve. Now he tries to get me to Chelsea.

"I know Chelsea are a big club, but I have to take several things into account. It's not easy to leave Italy behind after 12 years. I won't leave for a small difference.

"Conte told me what he expects from me and what type of player I can be for him. I'll never be a player who'll score 20 goals or give 20 assists.

"I'm not the one who'll be in the picture all the time, but I can be important for a team. A manager who appreciates that is important for me."

But the Blues still plan to test the waters in January, with a whopping £51m bid expected to be placed.

Roma will reportedly reject the offer, which will leave Antonio Conte to look to Bayern Munich's Arturo Vidal in a £38.2m bid.

The Italian manager is on the hunt for a central midfielder with Oscar expected to complete a £60m switch to the Chinese Super League in January.

Cesc Fabregas' Stamford Bridge future also looks uncertain, prompting further speculation over a potential deal for Vidal.

The Chile international came close to a move to west-London in 2015, only to choose Bayern Munich over Chelsea after leaving Italian champions Juventus.
