Chelsea Nearing £25m Deal for Inter's Croatian Midfield Star Marcelo Brozovic

"?Chelsea are reportedly close to sealing a deal for Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic as Antonio Conte looks to add a handful of new players to his squad ahead of Wednesday night's all important transfer deadline.

Brozovic's future at the San Siro has remained uncertain since Inter announced the arrival of Euro 2016 winner Joao Mario last week. And, according to the Daily Mail, Chelsea are eyeing the Croatian's energy and aggression in a £25m move.

Brozovic has previously been linked with Arsenal and former Inter manager Roberto Mancini was adamant the player would not be leaving. But Mancini is now gone and the landscape has significantly changed since news emerged of Mario's arrival.

It is said Inter would prefer to sell the 23-year-old former Dinamo Zagreb star to a club abroad as Juventus are also thought to be interested.

Chelsea's summer business, which has so been rather conservative with only Michy Batshuayi, N'Golo Kante and veteran goalkeeper Eduardo through the door, isn't likely to end with Brozovic.

The Stamford Bridge club is being tipped to also complete a expensive deal for Fiorentina left-back Marcos Alonso, once of Real Madrid and Bolton Wanderers earlier in his varied career.

A centre-back is also known to be a priority. Chelsea were linked with Leonardo Bonucci at the start of the summer and have closely monitoring Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly.

However, any deal for either of those two seems unlikely at this stage given the valuations being placed on both players and Conte's recent admission that paying well over the odds for players makes him feel rather uneasy.
