The 22-year-old, who is also said to be interesting Barcelona, is currently training with the France national team as part of their Euro 2016 squad, as they prepare to face Albania on Wednesday evening.
And reports indicate that the Lyon defender could be leaving France for a move abroad, with Chelsea having reportedly made contact with Umtiti's agent. But Antonio Conte's side could face stiff competition for the defender's signature, with Catalan giants Barcelona apparently keen on signing the Lyon defender.
Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo also report that Arsenal are tracking the player, and are keen to add to their centre-back roster of Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny and Gabriel, with the North London club reported to have watched the player for several months ahead of a potential summer transfer.
But the Frenchman has recently stated that a move to Barcelona could be too good to turn down, saying: "Barcelona is a club where every player wants to play.
"But I have a contract with Lyon as everyone knows and as we have done this season, the option to go to Barcelona is not present. Everyone is possible, both to stay and go. Honestly, for the moment, I am concentrating on the European Championship.
"I want to do the right thing and then we'll talk with my club."
Mundo Deportivo have reported that Barcelona's interest in Umtiti has been matched by Chelsea, who are looking for defensive reinforcements after their dreadful title defence during the 2015-16 season, where they continually looked vulnerable at the back.
Umtiti scored one goal from centre-back during the Ligue 1 season, and helped Lyon finish second in the league, 31 points behind champions PSG.
