Chelsea Looking to Sign Dimitri Payet This Summer as West Ham Fear Losing French Star

"?West Ham United are concerned that Dimitri Payet's outstanding performances in Euro 2016 will make it impossible for them to keep hold of the player next season, according to the "?Express.

Chelsea are among the clubs who are interested in signing the 29-year-old French star, who has scored twice in two games for France in the summer competition. Real Madrid are said to be lining up an offer too, off the back of the former Marseille man's exploits.

The Hammers will reportedly not consider a sale for anything less than £60m, though while they want to keep Payet they're worried that if he continues his top form on the big stage, teams such as Chelsea and Real will be completely convinced to make their move.

Incoming Blues boss Antonio Conte has money to spend and is ready to part with it in order to revamp his squad, and while he's in the hunt for central defenders and a striker, Payet's name is said to be on his hit-list too.

The player's agent Mark McKay however told Sky Sports recently that the player is happy at West Ham, saying: "As far as I am concerned, he's been happy at West Ham and it's down to West Ham that he's in the position that he is in. He's doing great now for France and to get him now, you've got to be talking ridiculous money. But football is football, so you never know.

"When he first came last year, we hoped for the best with him. We knew that he was a really good player, but I don't think anyone could really expect what he has gone on to do in the Premier League so far."
