Chelsea Dealt Massive Transfer Blow as Miralem Pjanic Is Set for Juventus Medical

Chelsea have been dealt a massive blow in the transfer market after it was announced that Miralem Pjanic is set to join Juventus, the "?Daily Express report.

Following the European Championships, Antonio Conte will take over the Stamford Bridge managerial reins and he is a huge admirer of Pjanic.

The Bosnian international grabbed 10 goals and registered 12 assists in Serie A this season, and he could have provided the Blues with a creative spark.

However, Chelsea have been outmuscled in the race for his signature by the Bianconeri.

Juve's sporting director Beppe Marotta revealed that "The Pjanic operation was concluded with the push of the player".

"Who strongly wanted the transfer to Juventus by activating the release clause he had already stipulated with Roma [£30m].

Most goals from outside the box in Europe's top 5 leagues this term:

Lorenzo Insigne
Miralem Pjanic
Lionel Messi (all 6)

"The player will undergo a medical with us shortly."

Marotta's comments backup a statement made by Pjanic's representative, Adis Junozovic, earlier in the week.

"Juventus have activated the €38m release clause and we expect to finalise the transfer very soon" Junozovic told Bosnian website N1.

"There were a lot of clubs interested in him, Paris Saint Germain, Chelsea, Barcelona... Juventus were the fastest and most concrete."

Chelsea will now switch their attention to other targets and they have been linked with an audacious bid for Juve's midfield maestro Paul Pogba.
