Chelsea and Liverpool Looking at Newcastle's Moussa Sissoko

Published on: 14 June 2016

Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko could be on his way out of St James' Park this summer after it emerged that Chelsea and Liverpool are both keeping tabs on the player.

According to reputable French newspaper L'Equipe, Sissoko is on the radar of German club Hamburg as well as the two Premier League outfits.

The report in L'Equipe claims the Germans have already submitted an offer to the Magpies for Sissoko in the region of around £9.5m. However, Newcastle rejected the offer. It is believed they are looking for a higher transfer fee than the one on the table.

According to Foot Mercato, the Frenchman recently expressed his desire to leave Newcastle after their relegation to the English Championship and stated his admiration for Arsenal, claiming that he would love to join the "club of his heart."

But as of yet there has been no interest from the Gunners which leaves it open for Chelsea and Liverpool to continue their line of enquiry about the 26-year-old.

Sissoko, who arrived at Newcastle from French club Toulouse in 2013, still has three years left on his current deal. However, the midfielder is not keen to begin a new chapter in his career outside of the Premier League and could make the switch to Stamford Bridge or Anfield this summer.

Currently representing his country at Euro 2016, Sissoko is known for his work-rate and effort in both attack and defence, which would suit both Chelsea and Liverpool. He has already proved himself in the Premier League and would cost a manageable fee.
