CHAN 2024: CAF announce new trophy design, huge increase in prize money

As the CHAN 2024 kicks-off today, African football governing body, CAF in continuation of football development in Africa have announced a 75% increase in the prize money of the three nation tournament as well as a new trophy design, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The 2025 TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) PAMOJA is set to be the most significant edition yet, marking the first time the tournament will be co-hosted by three nations which includes Tanzania, Uganda, and Kenya.

Matches will be played in Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, Kampala, and Nairobi, with the final scheduled for August 30 at Moi International Sports Centre.

A new trophy will be introduced, and prize money has been significantly increased, with winners set to earn USD 3.5 million and the total pool rising to USD 10.4 million.

Exclusively for players competing in domestic African leagues, this year’s CHAN is poised to be a historic milestone.
