Borussia Dortmund Set Sights on Arsenal Target Omer Toprak

"?Borussia Dortmund are keen on signing Bayer Leverkusen defender Oemer Toprak, despite interest from Arsenal, according to "?reports.

German outlet Sports Buzzer report that Toprak is a key target for Dortmund, but the Bundesliga outfit may have to wait until next summer before the player's €12m buy-out clause is activated.

Arsenal on the other hand may be looking to push for a move this summer, as their "?deal for Shkodran Mustafi looks continuously uncertain.

The Gunners were handed a boost on Thursday morning however, as "?Valencia chief admitted that Mustafi will be sold in order to balance the books.

Toprak, meanwhile, has added fuel to the fire, with Turkish-football quoting him as saying: "It is not certain whether I will stay at Bayer Leverkusen, we still have a month and anything could happen until them."?

The German-born defender, who has 23 caps for Turkey, has been an ever-present for Leverkusen over the past five seasons, appearing 170 times in all competitions, scoring six goals.

Toprak remains as an ideal back-up option for Arsenal, who will reportedly make enquiries if their pursuit of Mustafi fails.

Pressure is mounting on Gunners boss Arsene Wenger this summer after his refusal to sign players for large fees, aside from Granit Xhaka who signed for £30m at the start of the window.

Arsenal have failed in their pursuits for the likes of Gonzalo Higuain and Alvaro Morata, but Wenger has insisted that he will spend the money if he finds the right player.

"You do not sign players because you think it's very important or not. I think it's very difficult to find players and identify them." he said, as quoted by the "?Daily Star.

"That's why everyone is on the market for the same players and the deals. We are ready to spend the money we have.

"It's not my money. It's important to spend money the right way."
