"?Mario Gotze was mislead when completing a move to Bayern Munich in 2013, claims Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke who believes that the Bundesliga champions were not honest in their pursuit of the then 21-year-old.
"?Quoted in German news outlet Zeit, Watzke stated that he feels Gotze cannot be criticised for his disappointing appearances at the Allianz Arena due to the fact that Bayern were not truthful when taking him to Munich three years ago.
The blame instead lies with an unnamed member of the party negotiating Gotze's £31m transfer who deceived the young star.
"Somebody was untruthful to Mario, I won't name any names but that is how it was."
The World Cup winner is now back in the yellow and black of Dortmund, after the club decided to re-sign him and end a disappointing stint with the German champions.
Having left the club after Dortmund's Champions League final defeat to Bayern, the 24-year-old will be hoping to help the club back to that level alongside some familiar faces.

Following the club's decision to bring both Nuri Sahin and Shinji Kagawa back to the club as well as Gotze, provoked questions about the board's decision to sell in the past.
"It is not disgraceful if you struggle at extremely capitalistic clubs like United or Real, who maybe put less emphasis on team spirit but have bigger competition within the squad.
"It was not a mistake to re-sign both [Kagawa and Sahin]. Maybe leaving us was a mistake. Ask Henrikh Mkhitaryan - he could watch the first 93 minutes of the English Super Cup from the dugout."
