Ahead of the naming of the Black Stars squad for the Afcon 2017 qualifier against Rwanda Ashantigold captain Lawrence Lartey has disclosed that he expects the top scorer of the local league to make the cut.

Nathaniel Asamoah has been in fine form scoring 18 goals out of 22 matches compelling the Black Meteors captain to insist that he should be named in Avram Grant's 23-man contingent for the Kigali assignment.

According to Lawrence Lartey the Medeama SC attacker has given indications that when the nation falls on him for goals he shall always be available as his call up into the Local Black Stars has demonstrated his qualities so far.

"Yes I expect some local players to make the squad to be named by coach Avram  Grant. I must say that even if no player is selected from the local league, Nathaniel Asamoah must make it", Lartey said.

"Over the years only Fatau Dauda and Stephen Adams have made it into the team with no outfield player making it but our quality of play has improved. Looking at the number of goals Nathaniel has scored, he deserves to be invited", he added.

Lawrence was however quick to say that he knows Avram Grant was not in the country but he believes his deputy and other scouts might have seen some players who deserve call ups.
