Bayern Munich defender Javi Martinez predicts young forward Julian Green will get "many opportunities" in the Bundesliga this season due to his vast potential, ESPN FC reports.
Green, 21, has already featured prominently for Carlo Ancelotti during the pre-season. He started in the friendly against Lippstadt and scored the first goal in the entertaining 4-3 win for Bayern and followed that with another start in the win against Pep Guardiola's Manchester City.
However, under the Spaniard last season, the USA international struggled to make his mark on the first team and spent most of his time playing for the reserve team.
But Martinez believes the youngster is ready to break into the first team under Ancelotti in the upcoming season and pointed to the American winger's vast amount of potential as for the reason why he is likely to become a regular.
"[Green] is a young kid, with lots of potential, and for sure he will play well," Martinez told ESPN FC. "He is very fast, he battles hard, moves well and scores goals.
"A very dynamic player. I think that this year he will get many opportunities."
The Bavarian giants are currently in the USA preparing for the International Champions Cup
and the Spain international believes football is an ever-growing sport in the US and highlighted the enthusiasm the Copa America generated in the country.
"The truth is that soccer is becoming more and more important in the U.S. all the time," he added. "You could see that with the Copa America, which had big crowds through the whole tournament."
The former Athletic Bilbao midfielder also revealed his excitement in facing European heavyweights like Real Madrid and AC Milan in preparation for the season that starts with a German Supercup clash against Borussia Dortmund.
"These are opponents who you look forward to playing against, who you know are going to test you, and help you get ready," he said.
"We hope we can achieve that and that the tour will be useful for us for the season- starting with the German Super Cup against Dortmund."
