Bayern Munich Join Arsenal in Criticising Chile for Treatment of Players During International Duty

"?Bayern Munich have joined Arsenal in criticising the Chilean FA for the treatment of their players during international duty following the injuries of both Alexis Sanchez and Arturo Vidal in World Cup qualifying fixtures.

The Gunners have been left sweating over the fitness of Sanchez after it was revealed that the winger picked up a thigh tear during training with the national side on Tuesday, with Chile refusing to send the player home after suggesting he could be fit for next week's clash against Uruguay.

However, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger described it as 'suicidal' to risk the player's fitness before such an important period of the club's domestic season, and has demanded that Sanchez return to London before the injury becomes more serious ahead of their looming trip to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United.

Speaking to "?beIN Sports about the issue, Wenger said: "It's a grey area between the national team and the club team, and of course they look at their own results, which I can understand, but we have to preserve the health of Alexis Sanchez."

Now, Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have joined the debate by questioning the national team's decision to rush players back too early after their midfielder Arturo Vidal was stretchered off in the closing moments of their clash with Colombia, only to suggest he would be fit enough to play again on Tuesday.

Speaking to German news outlet "?Bild, the club's chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge commented: "Bayern Munich are very worried about Arturo Vidal's health.

"We urge the Chilean Football Association to deal with the situation responsibly and sensibly. It should be a given that the player's health is a top priority."
