Bayern Give Paul Clement Permission to Negotiate With Swansea Over Managerial Post

Published on: 01 January 2017

"?Bayern Munich have confirmed that their assistant manager Paul Clement has been given permission to speak to Swansea City, with the 44-year-old set to take over as head coach this week.

The Swans sacked Bob Bradley last week, less than three months after hiring the American, having let go of Francesco Guidolin back in October.

Bradley failed to inspire confidence at the club and could not get the desired results, picking up just eight points from his 11 games in charge.

Swansea will hope to stop the rot with a second managerial appointment this season, and have identified Clement as the man to instigate the turnaround.

"?Reports indicate that the coach will sign with the Welsh club on Tuesday, and has been offered a two-and-a-half-year deal. He isn't likely to be in the dugout when the team face Crystal Palace, however.

Swansea sources are claiming that all major terms have been agreed upon, and it is expected that things will be all wrapped up late Monday, in order for Clement to make an assessment during the game against Palace on Tuesday.

Bayern announced their decision to let Clement hold talks with Swansea via their Twitter account. They are sure to wish him well, but there has been no report of a replacement as yet.

The Swansea squad are looking forward to working with Clement, as has been pointed out by Neil Taylor, a defender at the club.

"Paul Clement has got great credentials as a coach and he comes highly regarded by a few people that have played with him," said Taylor.

"Who will get the job, I don't know. If it is Clement then all the boys will take to him and work as hard as they can and hopefully they can help to turn it around."
