Bayern Chairman Claims Manchester United Should Sell Bastian Schweinsteiger in January

"?Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge believes that Manchester United should sell out of favour midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger in January.

Schweinsteiger is yet to make an appearance for Jose Mourinho's United this season, but has continued to train with the club and post supportive messages on social media.

He was recently pictured training with the first-team, although it has been suggested this was just to put him in the 'shop window' ahead of the January transfer window, and Rummenigge believes it is best for the two parties to part ways when the window opens.

"My wish for him is that they find a solution when the transfer window opens again in January," Rummenigge told "?German publication Bild.

"It is difficult to manage a generation change.

"But you always have to remain tactful and understanding."?

Mourinho ruled out considering Schweinsteiger for selection this season in the summer, and the world record transfer signing of Paul Pogba seemingly ruled out any potential return to United's starting eleven for Schweinsteiger.

Schweinsteiger was signed by Mourinho's predecessor Louis van Gaal and made 31 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils during the 2015-16 season.

He has previously won the World Cup with Germany at international level, while he also won numerous Bundesliga titles with Bayern Munich, also winning a Champions League crown.

Forgotten United players Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Phil Jones have also trained with the first-team recently.

Jones is yet to feature for the club this season and has endured injury-hit campaigns during his stay at Old Trafford, while Mkhitaryan has been missing from United squads since being hauled off at half-time against Pep Guardiola's Manchester City back in September.
