"?Bayer Leverkusen's Karim Bellarabi faces a spell on the sidelines after injuring his groin muscle.
Leverkusen manager Roger Schmidt has confirmed that Bellarabi will have to undergo surgery on his injured groin, which he suffered in the first minute against Hamburg last weekend.
"Karim Bellarabi will be out for a couple of months and will undergo an operation in Basel tomorrow," Roger Schmidt said "?at a news conference.
He will be sidelined for the whole of the Champions League group stage, missing games against Tottenham, CSKA Moscow and AS Monaco.
Leverkusen's win against Hamburg last weekend was their first victory of the season following their opening day 2-1 defeat at Borussia Monchengladbach.
In other news, Joel Pohjanpalo might not have done enough to secure a starting spot for their Champions League group match against CSKA Moscow. The 22 year old came on as a substitute against Hamburg and scored a hat-trick.
"Joel has been superb lately and showed on Saturday how strong he is in the box," Schmidt said, who is opting to ease Pohjanpalo in slowly. "Whether he'll start tomorrow remains to be seen, but he's definitely in contention."
Pohjanpalo is currently the most efficient Bundesliga player in history. He is currently averaging a goal every 7.5 minutes.
