Barcelona Target Manchester United's Daley Blind as Jose Mourinho Looks to Sell for €18m

Barcelona are interested in signing Daley Blind and Manchester United are willing to allow the defender to leave for €18m, according to Sport."?

Jose Mourinho's arrival at Old Trafford is set to impact the futures of a number of first team members with Juan Mata the most recently linked with a move away, incidentally, also to Barcelona.

Blind also does not fit the profile for the type of player Mourinho likes to deploy at the heart of his defence.

Louis Van Gaal was a big fan of the 26-year-old, playing him as a defensive midfielder and, most recently, transitioning him into a deeper role, as a centre back.

Mourinho, however, is more keen on playing strong, no nonsense types at the back, in the mould of John Terry. While Blind may not be the ideal Mourinho defender, he certainly falls in line with what Barcelona demand from their defenders.

The Dutchman is an accomplished passer, is capable of playing in multiple positions and could fill the void Javier Mascherano might leave behind if he does, indeed, sign for Juventus as recent reports claim he will.

The former Ajax star insisted he would fight for his place under Mourinho, it remains to be seen how these reports will affect his resolve.

"You might be looking for a certain statement [about my future], but I will just give my all under Mourinho. We will have to wait and see whether anything changes for me," Blind told NOS in Holland on Tuesday.

"I will just give my all and work hard. Mourinho is a manager who has achieved a lot and I am keen to work with him.

"I might not be as big as Pepe, but I think I have shown in the Premier League that I can hold my own defensively."
