"?"?Reports from various press outlets in Spain suggest that Spanish champions Barcelona are considering a move for Napoli's Italian winger Lorenzo Insigne.
The 25-year-old international has been sought after by a number of clubs from all around Europe this summer, and Barca are thought to be ready to make an offer for the player, although it is understood that Inter Milan are still favourites to sign the highly-rated attacker.
"There was contact with Barcelona but other clubs are also interested," said Fabio Andreotti, the player's agent.
"I was the one to call the Blaugrana after Fernandez (technical secretary of Barcelona) said that they could be interested.
"In the meeting, however, they (Barcelona) made it clear that they were focusing on other players."
Insigne was part of the Italy squad that reached the quarter-finals of the European Championships during the summer, where they were knocked out by Germany by virtue of a penalty shoot-out.
He also enjoyed a rather prolific season at Napoli, where he scored 13 goals in 37 appearances for the Serie A side in all competitions.
One possible stumbling block in the move would be the amount of playing time the player would get in the current Barcelona set-up. Insigne would be behind the likes of Neymar, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi, meaning first-team opportunities would be limited.
Barcelona will be looking to expand on their league success last season by reclaiming the Champions League trophy from their biggest rivals Real Madrid, and have been building a squad, adding strength in depth to do so.
