Bala: 'NPFL top scorer gong possible’

Plateau United forward, Reuben Bala has expressed his readiness to challenge for the top-flight top scorer’s award in the on-going elite league.

The Jos Elephants’ marksman scored a hat trick and first goals of the season in the side 4-1 demolition of newcomers, Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) FC in Sunday’s top-flight matchday 15 clash in Jos.

Bala said the three-goal against the IIorin outfit is just a test of the iceberg of what to come in other matches on the top-flight calendar.

“Yes, I’m aware the leading goal scorer, Stephen Odey of MFM FC is on 12 goals, that’s awesome and great.

“I have just scored my first goals for the on-going league season and it turned out to be a hat trick.

“I intend to challenge for the top-flight top scorer’s award, I strongly believe there is bright hope for me to even scores with the leading goal scorer in the next few matches, the hat trick is a huge morale boost.

“Certainly, more goals are coming the hat trick is just a stepping stone in that direction with more matches to be played,” said the Jos landlords’ lanky hitman to supersport.com.

Bala said there will be no stopping of his side again now that the Tin City side have reclaimed the top-flight top spot.

“We are not going to drop off from the summit again right now we will just be going up high and higher.

“We will fight very hard to stay atop of the league ladder till the end of the on-going league season.

“We are highly motivated with the massive win against ABS FC to challenge Rivers United for the whole three points at stake on Wednesday in Port Harcourt.

Plateau United are at the summit of the 20-team top-flight log on 28 points one ahead of closest challengers, Mountain of Fire Miracles Ministries (MFM) FC.
