Bundesliga side FC Augsburg have confirmed the signing of Nigerian youngster Uchenna Ogundu from Turkish club Alanyaspor, with the forward putting pen to paper on a long-term contract that runs until June 30, 2031, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Both clubs have opted to keep the financial details of the deal undisclosed.

The 19-year-old enjoyed an encouraging spell with Alanyaspor, scoring five goals and providing two assists in 20 appearances across all competitions, performances that attracted interest from Germany.

Reacting to the signing, Augsburg sporting director Benni Weber praised Ogundu’s qualities and suitability for the club’s style of play.

“We are delighted that Uchenna has chosen FCA. With his pace, his dynamism, and his ability to make runs in behind, he fits perfectly with us and brings additional variability to our game,” Weber said.

Ogundu, on the other hand, expressed excitement about taking the next step in his career and testing himself at the highest level.

“It’s a great feeling that the transfer has gone through. FC Augsburg offers me a great opportunity to prove myself in one of the best leagues in the world,” the teenager stated.

“My goal is to settle in quickly, learn a lot, and contribute my qualities on the pitch. I can’t wait to play in the WWK ARENA for the first time and experience the atmosphere.”

The move marks a major milestone in Ogundu’s young career as he looks to establish himself in the German top flight and continue his rise in European football.
