Arsenal to Tempt Alvaro Morata With Offer That Would Make Him Gunners Top Earner

"?Arsenal have been pushed into acting more decisively in the transfer market this summer as a result of Danny Welbeck's long-term injury and that could now see the Gunners make concerted efforts to sign Alvaro Morata from Juventus with offers of a bumper pay packet.

According to a report from the Sun, Arsenal will dangle of a substantial financial carrot in front of the 23-year-old Spaniard. The newspaper cites Arsene Wenger's apparent 'desperation' to sign a world class striker before the start of next season.

It is said the Gunners are prepared to throw their wage structure out of the window to land Morata and will make an offer that promises to make him the highest paid player at the club, ahead of the likes of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.

Ozil currently takes home £140,000, but Morata would pocket £155,000 should he take the plunge and trade Turin for north London. Over the course of the five-year contract purportedly on the table that's more than £40m the player could earn by 2021.

Chelsea are also believed to be interested and, as such, have informed the player's agent he will be offered a weekly salary of £135,000 at Stamford Bridge. If it comes down to a straight financial incentive there is only going to be one winner.

However, it all remains to be seen where Real Madrid come into this. Morata's former club still hold a £25m buy-back option and are thought to want to exercise it. Not so that he can play at the Bernabeu next season, but so they can use him as a bargaining chip in the transfer market.

Existing rumours have claimed that Real will look to engineer themselves a deal with Borussia Dortmund in a bid to prise Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang away from Westfalenstadion.

Even if Los Blancos don't do business with Dortmund, they are expected to profit from Morata anyway. The report from the Sun claims they will ask £40m and sell to the highest bidder, whomever that may be. Oddly, that could even be Juventus.
