"?Arsenal have reignited their interest in Velez Sarsfield starlet Maxi Romero, the "?Daily Star report.

The Gunners were on the brink of securing the 17-year-old's signature in a £4.5m deal last summer but the move broke down after he tore his ligaments.

Arsene Wenger is still a huge fan of the trickster dubbed the 'next Lionel Messi' and he could return with a new offer.

Arsene Wenger is reviving his bid to sign Argentinian youngster Maxi Romero and is also eyeing a move for Southampton forward Sadio Mane.

The Argentine attacker has already made a handful of appearances for Velez Sarsfield in the Primera Division, scoring one goal in the process.

However, before he secures a switch to the Emirates Stadium he willl have to prove his fitness.

Arsenal are keen to complete their transfer business early this year and the signing of Granit Xhaka is expected to be announced in the next few days.

The midfield maestro has been the subject of interest from a number of European heavyweights but the Gunners have moved quickly to snap up his services after witnessing him spearhead Borussia Monchengladbach's charge up the Bundesliga table.

Xhaka will arrive in North London for £25m and Wenger is also lining up a swoop for Juventus' hotshot striker Alvaro Morata.

The Gunners have been keeping close tabs on Morata, who has grabbed nine goals in all competitions this season, but any move could be scuppered by Real Madrid if they decide to activate a buy-back clause.
