Arsenal Reportedly Agree Personal Terms With Little Known Hoffenheim Forward

Published on: 03 June 2016

"?Arsenal look increasingly likely to complete the £20m signing of Leicester striker Jamie Vardy in the coming days, but the Gunners also appear close to a deal for talented young Hoffenheim forward Antonio Colak after supposedly agreeing personal terms.

Website Soccerisma is claiming an exclusive that a source close to the player has revealed that Arsenal have been carefully monitoring Colak for some time and have now struck a deal over personal terms.

It therefore appears all that remains is for the two clubs to formally settle on a transfer fee.

Colak, who is German-born despite playing internationally for Croatia at Under-19 and Under-20 level, has previously played for Nurnberg as well as Lechia Gdansk in Poland.

Having spent time at Hoffenheim in his youth career, the striker rejoined the club in 2015, although he is yet to play. Colak spent last season on loan at Kaiserslautern instead where he scored five times in 22 appearances in the German second tier.

If Arsenal have indeed been scouting him and are close to taking him to north London, it certainly won't be because of any impressive numbers in front of goal and will be more linked to specific potential they see in the player's style and ability.

Assuming he does end up an Arsenal player, chances are he won't become a first-team regular until he proves himself.

It is the latest long-term injury suffered by Danny Welbeck and the inconsistency of Olivier Giroud that has led Arsene Wenger into the transfer market for a big-name new striker this summer.

That's where Vardy comes in. Following his 24 Premier League goals in Leicester's title winning campaign, with Arsenal fans already excited over the mouth watering prospect of his pace linking up with Mesut Ozil's ability to play killer through balls.
