Wenger was delighted with the opening of the 500 seater stadium in his name, claiming it to be 'an honour', as well as admitting to be 'a little surprised'.

Adrien Berthier, the town mayor of Duppigheim, stated that Wenger was fully deserving of the honour, while Peter Troesch, president of the local town team USL Duppigheim who will use the stadium as their home ground, praised Wenger highly, suggesting that he should have stadiums named after him across the country.

"He deserves to have a stadium in every town in Alsace and France" said Troesch.
