"?Arsenal have contacted Jeison Murillo's representatives in an attempt to bring the Inter Milan defender to North London this summer, according to "?Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Gunners have already signed midfielder Granit Xhaka from Borussia M'gladbach, and now Arsene Wenger looks set to try strengthen the club's defence after making a verbal enquiry for Murillo.

Chelsea are also rumoured to be interested in the Colombia international who is currently playing at the Copa America.

But it appears Arsenal and Wenger have made the first move as the club prepares to mount another title challenge this upcoming season.

Both Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista have failed to tie down a regular starting spot alongside Laurent Koscielny, and now Wenger could be looking for a more consistent partner in defence for Koscielny in Murillo.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are likely to explore other options along with Murillo due to the complications in securing deals for the likes of Antonio Rudiger (Roma), Kostas Manolas (Roma), Leonardo Bonucci (Juventus) and Kalidou Koulibaly (Napoli).
