Arsenal Edging Closer to Borussia Dortmund Attacker Henrikh Mkhitaryan

"?Arsenal are in talks to sign Borussia Dortmund play-maker Henrikh Mkhitaryan, according to football journalist "?Emanuele Giulianelli.

The Italian said that the clubs are in talks, but that those talks are still in the early stages. Arsenal have already signed one midfielder this summer in Switzerland's Granit Xhaka and now are looking to add another Bundesliga player to their ranks.

Talks Arsenal & Mkhitaryan. Wenger sees him on the right wing. Not sure how advanced they're at but there has been contact multiple times

According to Giulianelli, Arsene Wenger sees Mkhitaryan as a player to put on the right wing although it remains to be seen whether or not the Armenian would be happy to play in that position.

Mkhitaryan has been a key part of the Borrussia Dortmund team in recent seasons, mainly playing in a central attacking midfield position, although he is naturally a right-sided player so he could fit the role perfectly.

In the Bundesliga, the Armenian scored 11 goals and made 20 assists for Thomas Tuchel's side as they finished second in the league behind champions Bayern Munich.

Mkhitaryan was similarly impressive in the Europa League scoring twice and assisting team-mates on six occasions as Dortmund made it to the quarter-finals only to lose out in dramatic fashion against Liverpool.

The Armenian attacker impressed against Liverpool in both games despite the result and that may be the reason Arsene Wenger has taken a shine to the player.

At Arsenal it remains to be seen where they would fit the 27-year-old in the starting 11 with Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain all tending to play in the same position.

Liverpool were previously linked with the Dortmund star before he made the move to the German side, then managed by Klopp, when he made the move from Shaktar Donetsk back in 2013.
